Well, it's been a while, yet again, since my last post. Keeping up with several blogs/networking sites is a pain I've discovered. I am finishing up two masks, one of which is nearly complete, before my show tomorrow night. One is called "Delphine the Seer," since it has a quartz crystal on the face, and the other is "Obsidian Goddess." I'm thinking of making several masks based on stones, since the Obsidian one is the second piece. The first, sold last year at a show in Denver, is called "Silver Goddess," which I am using for my avatar on this blog. Simple as it was, it was my favourite. I'm running into complications with the Obsidian Goddess piece, which is extremely aggrevating. I just want it to look nice and function well as a mask. The other one, "Delphine the Seer," is presenting me with one final challenge: the eyes. I lined them with black paint, but it just doesn't seem to be enough. Everything is so fancy, and then there's these plain eyes. So, I'll try to dress them up today and finish up the Obsidian Goddess piece. They both need a day to dry and I still need to print up brochures and business cards.
The show tomorrow night is the bi-monthly Fetish Ball at The Underground. The theme this time is 'Saints and Sinners.' Unfortunately, since I never went to catholic school, I don't have a catholic girl's uniform. I do, however, have a wannabe kilt and some shiney black boots. :D But while it may not be a productive show, it has the potential for a lot of fun.
The other show I'll be in this month is on the 25th (Sunday) in Denver. It's called The 2008 Colorado Dark Arts Festival. As evidenced by the '2008,' the show is annual and it's pretty big... usually. In the past, it took place at two or more venues, so it required a decent pair of walking shoes and a parasol to keep the sun at bay. This time, however, it's only going to be at The Church Bar, which is on 12th and Lincoln Ave. The show starts at noon (although I have to be there at 10) and lasts til 1:30am. Artists will be set up til 8, so it will still be a long day for us. I'm not sure what the ticket price is for non-artists, however, and I'm kind of nervous about that since I'm broke. I at least have a temp job, so I should have some cashola by then. I'm really looking forward to the show not just for contacts and potential sales, but to see Denver people again. I'll post pics soon enough.
